Thanks to the generous support of all those who’ve sponsored TeamBMG in their challenge to complete the Great North Run, together with match-funding from BMG Research, the event has so far raised £3550 for Heart Research UK.
TeamBMG (minus a poorly Rob, who was replaced by Jeremy) all safely crossed the line of the gruelling 13.1 mile course in impressive times.
Simon Kitchen, Client Implementation Director at BMG Research was delighted to complete his first half marathon in just 2 hours 27 minutes, especially given the newly-designed course meant even more hills than the usual Newcastle to South Shield route: “Compared with my weekly 5K ParkRuns I was quite daunted to take on my first half marathon, but absolutely loved taking part. The support we received from everyone’s donations and messages really helped to spur us all on. I’ve even signed up for another half marathon later this year”.
“The Great North Run is a fantastic event for TeamBMG to have got involved with and we hope to build an even bigger team for next year’s race”.
Donations and match-funding from BMG Research for the Great North Run, as well as other recent activities mean that BMG have now raised more than £5,000 towards their overall target of raising £35,000 for Heart Research UK by the end of BMG’s 35th anniversary year in 2023.All money raised will go to the June Wiseman Memorial Fund, which will be used to host Heart Research UK Masterclasses, which bring together heart surgeons and health professionals from around the world, to share knowledge and expertise of often life-saving surgical techniques. This shared knowledge of topics such as heart bypass, aortic surgery and heart transplantation will benefit heart patients from across the UK for many years, and ultimately help save and extend lives.
