A BMG Research report on the SME Journey Towards Accessing External Finance has now been published.

The survey, conducted in September 2012 on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the British Business Bank involved more than 1500 Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews with small and medium sized business owners and managers across the UK, and 30 qualitative depths. The survey concluded that most SMEs are relatively unsophisticated when it comes to finance applications, with most approaching their main bank and abiding by their decision. SMEs were also generally unaware of Government finance schemes.
