Working with Regeneris, a major UK economic development consultant, BMG undertook a telephone survey of 300 small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) which had received funding in the last 2-3 years from the JEREMIE initiative.

The JEREMIE initiative (Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises) combines European Investment Bank (EIB) finance with European Commission grants under the European Regional Development Fund to encourage effective investment in small and medium-size businesses.  The survey was on behalf of 3 European fund holders based in the North of England including the North West Fund, North East Finance and Finance Yorkshire.

The review was intended to provide valuable information on the performance of the Fund holders’ services to businesses. This information helped them to improve services to business, with objectives including information about the investment and what it was used for, other support provided, the outcomes and impacts of the investment, general attitudes towards access to finance, and how the service could be improved.
