The latest BMG poll for the Independent reveals that more than half of Britain’s voters want to see all the major party leaders go head-to-head in a televised debate – Theresa May included.
Of those polled, 54% were in favour of the debates, while 25% didn’t want them to take place at all.
The poll also revealed that the majority of people (53%) were in favour of Theresa May’s decision to hold an early election, compared to just 23% who opposed it.
Of those asked, 30% felt Theresa May’s biggest motivation to call an election was to ‘strengthen her power to push Brexit laws through Parliament’, and 18% thought it was because ‘polls suggest a large win over Labour’.
