BMG interviewers are currently knocking on doors across 15 different local authorities in England, to conduct a total of 11,400 interviews with parents or primary caregivers with children under nine years of age.
‘Fulfilling Lives: A Better Start’ is an important project being run by the Big Lottery Fund. The Big Lottery Fund will be investing £165m across a number of areas in England over the next 10 years to help improve services for babies, young children and families. The purpose of the Area Wellbeing Survey – one element of the project – is to obtain good information about the wellbeing of babies, children and families in the community. The results from the Area Wellbeing Surveys will help decision-makers in each area put forward a strong proposal to the Big Lottery Fund about how they might invest money to improve services for babies and young children.
The Big Lottery Fund commissioned the ‘Fulfilling Lives: A Better Start’ programme. The Social Research Unit – an independent research charity – are responsible for commissioning BMG Research to undertake the Area Wellbeing Survey. The Social Research Unit will be responsible for subsequently analysing the anonymous survey information provided. The Local Council has not commissioned this survey, but they are aware it is taking place and they will use the anonymous survey findings to inform their lottery bid.
