CITB has published the final reports following research undertaken by BMG to explore the skills and mobility of the workforce in the construction sector.

The research builds on previous surveys conducted in 2012, 2007 and 2005 and utilised face-to-face visits to 350 construction sites to complete 4771 interviews with construction workers undertaking manual roles on sites across the UK.

The aim of the research was to provide a reliable evidence base of the nature of the construction workforce in the UK concerning its qualification levels and the extent of occupational and geographic mobility. The survey findings have the potential to provide a common currency for skills planning, particularly in respect of profiling the existing workforce and offering insight into where gaps might emerge as a result of occupational/geographic movement.

A total of 12 national and regional reports have been produced by BMG for CITB based on our analysis of the findings as well as a UK-wide report. All the reports can be found here: http://www.citb.co.uk/research/research-reports/workforce-mobility-skills-uk-construction-sector/
