Role Purpose:

  • Accountable for building, managing and directing client relationships to grow company revenue and profitability – through farming existing client accounts and hunting new opportunities.
  • Leads, manages and develops team of researchers to deliver strategically important, high-value accounts and projects
  • Wins new work through excellent proposal writing and proactive client engagement
  • Projects will predominantly be in the public/quasi-public arena i.e. regulated industries and be both B2C and B2B. Projects typically focus on one of Customer Experience, Employee Experience, public perceptions, Communication / Campaign Evaluation or Behaviour Change.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Client account management: building excellent client relationships and partnerships over and above projects
  • Project management: ensuring projects are delivered to high levels of client satisfaction whilst maintaining profitability and team satisfaction
  • Business development: successfully leading proposal writing and business development areas. Expected to be able to win projects with value in excess of £500k
  • Insight and deliverable development: accountable for the development of impactful insight and client deliverables
  • Delivers cross-company development initiatives
  • Leads and develops a team of c. 10 researchers of mixed levels – from graduate trainees to Associate Directors

Key skills:

  • Client management: Ability to build mutually beneficial client partnerships based on openness, honesty and trust
  • Ability to produce strong, compelling research proposals
  • Insight development: Ability to understand and identify client’s issues, develop insights from research and deliver in an impactful way
  • Line management: Ability to lead and develop a team
  • Core research skills: questionnaire design and development, sampling knowledge, statistical analysis techniques (understand the purpose of the techniques and how to apply)

Advantageous skills:

  • Expert in a research area aligned to growing our business – ideally public sector, behaviour change or customer experience
  • Experience of leading qualitative research i.e. focus groups and depth interviewing

Person Specification

  • Degree qualification
  • A high standard of attention to detail
  • At least 8 years research experience gained in a market research agency
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability
  • Ability to think laterally and develop creative solutions
  • Thorough knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research techniques
  • Able to build personal relationships
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and to deadlines
  • Commercially aware
