BMG Research have launched a fundraising challenge, in partnership with Heart Research UK, to raise £35,000 to mark BMG’s 35th anniversary in 2023. The challenge encourages all members of staff to come together for local community events, maintain and build fitness levels as well as lift spirits and make a real difference – all important aspects of improving general wellbeing.

BMG Research has had a long-standing affiliation with the charity and following the 2019 passing of Research Director, June Wiseman, set-up a memorial fund with the aim to raise money for Heart Research UK’s masterclass programme. The masterclasses bring together health experts from around the world, to share knowledge and expertise of treatments and surgical techniques to help save and extend the lives of patients in the UK. In some cases, there are limited opportunities for heart surgeons to gain first-hand experience of the latest surgical techniques, therefore cardiac surgery masterclasses allow leading, eminent surgeons to share their knowledge and expertise of often life-saving surgical techniques with other surgeons.

Julie Hollingsworth, Associate Director and Fundraising Lead said “The fundraising challenge and memorial fund is a fitting tribute to June who was not only an extremely hardworking and valued director and colleague but also a very supportive and inspiring friend. It means a lot to me to be raising money for Heart Research UK in her memory and to be able to bring our staff together for a common cause after a year of working remotely.”
