In late 2015, HS2 Ltd commissioned BMG Research to manage their Staff Engagement Survey. This involved redesigning the questionnaire from what they had used in previous years, to bring it in line with best practice and to ensure the outcomes were relevant for the organisation and the Directorates that sit within it.
A key element of the design of the research was the consultation with senior level Directors within the organisation to obtain their views of the organisation and a clear understanding of their requirements of the survey and what they want to get out of it. This involved a number of face to face meetings at their Headquarters in Canary Wharf on a one-to-one basis with HR, Organisational Effectiveness and Change, Reward, EDI, Occupational Health and Communications. A number of staff belonging to the workplace forum were also consulted to explore key themes and issues that affect their working life at HS2. These conversations helped to develop our understanding of particular issues that are important for the organisation and those that are most relevant at this time. From these discussions, BMG designed a set of questions that allowed for analysis of staff engagement, workplace wellbeing, health and safety, leadership, and the culture and values of the organisation.
The online survey will be launched in early 2016.
